Jump rope for heart.

Coin Trail
This week Russell School has been doing jump rope for heart. We have also been donating a coin to the Heart Foundation. I feel sorry for the people that have had a heart attack or stroke and couldn't afford their medical bill. Jump rope for heart is easy to get your heart beating and keep you fit. We think that the coins we donate are going to get better machines for the Heart Foundation.

Our first basketball game

On Tuesday was our first basketball game at the arena. We had to wear these wrist bands and if other kids have the same colour we have  then you have to mark them. Our coach used me for the back because I was the tallest one there.I saved a goal.I felt nervous and tall. by Anton

Cricket champions

On Monday some people from Room 9 went to Linden Park in Tawa to play cricket. When we got there ET told the teams the rules and what would happen. After that we played our games and we won all of them. Next we went to our final we vs Tairangi, they were pretty hard but we manged to win just by 2 points. That meant that we won the cup! Then we went to our resting place, each coach had to nominated a sportsmanship player from there team and they got a cricket set. The two people that got it from Russell were Augustino and Katoa. After that ET pronounced the winner of the cricket trophy and it was Russell and Maraeroa. So we had to share the trophy we get it for the first six months and they get it for the other six months. In the end we had a big photo with all the teams and the Wellington Firebirds, then Matua Andrew told us to do the haka and the haka boys felt proud of themselves. Everyone had an awesome time.

gymnastics

At the moment Russell School are doing gymnastics. Our goals are no over balancing, feet stuck on the ground and looking straight a head. Room 9 has been going on the beam, vault and forward rolls. We had five minutes at each activity and when we had finished,  Miss Forster chose somebody to do an example on the beam,it was me! I did good  by looking straight a head and pointing my toes. I was a little bit nervous and happy. Then we got our shoes on and went to class that was the end .

Indoor Soccer

 Team in Acton

Aroha
Next week on Tuesday the Russell School soccer team will go to the Te Rauparaha Arena. They will vs Cannons Creek for fifth place in the competition.
During last weeks game there was a two player collision, Corey showed aroha and empathy by helping the player from the other team up and asked if he was alright. Ngun Cung is our top goal scorer he is very talented.
Russell School are in the top third of the competition because of how good they work together.

Mini Olympics

When I went with my group Great Britain with Whaea Laura I came last on the relays in front of the Junior block, like a person doing slow motion. There were other activities like Javelin, 3 legged races, soccer, silent ball and the egg and spoon race.We all used the school values like a bunch of role models. At the end Corey, Colleen and I got a gold medal.
